Cycling injuries can occur due to a variety of causes, including incorrect positioning, overtraining, biomechanical faults, poor technique and trauma. To effectively manage a cycling injury, a thorough examination investigating each of these factors is required to determine the relative contribution of each, thereby enabling the most appropriate course of action to be taken (eg. modifying training regime, adjusting position on the bike, physiotherapy or referral to other health practitioners).
Taking the time to thoroughly assess the problem from all angles can speed up the recovery process by allowing the most effective management strategy to be implemented early. This not only saves time and minimises training disruption, but may also save money in the long run by reducing the need for extended periods of treatment.
Due to the wide variation in
injury complexity this assessment is not fixed in price. The minimum
booking is 1hr and a sliding fee scale applies for the time taken
thereafter (billed in 5min increments). An approximation of the time
required may be given based on information provided on the phone or via
email but any estimate given is non-binding.

An overview of the possible elements of the assessment is as follows:
-
Review of training and injury history
-
Physical assessment relevant to the injury
-
Full physical/biomechanical screening
-
Video analysis on the bike with simultaneous dual-camera capture
-
Spinscan to help evaluate pedaling technique and identify power imbalances
-
Bike fit
-
Short-term training advice
-
Report to coach and/or treating health professional
-

Bike Fit Review Consultation

-
Cost - $65 for 1st 30mins, pro-rata hourly rate thereafter (health fund rebate may apply) $70 as of 1/3/10
Pre-season screening can help identify injury risk-factors or areas for improvement to maximise performance. A screening includes:
- Review of training and injury history as well as goals for the coming season
- Full physical/biomechanical screening
- Assessment of riding position
- Video analysis
- Spinscan analysis of pedaling technique
- Identification of key areas for improvement and written recommendations to address relevant issues
- Cost - $135 (health fund rebate may
apply)
